FIFE

What's it all about?

The first Aircooled cruise was in 2025. It started out as an idea to get a few friends together over the summer to drive their classic VWs.

As interest grew, the decision was made to invite other enthusiasts along via word of mouth and Facebook.

In just a few weeks the cruise grew and on the day 78 vehicles assembled in St Andrews to spend the day touring Fife.  Through donations, a raffle and merchandise the day raise over £1500 for the charity CHAS based in Kinross.

The decision was made that the Aircooled cruise would be an annual event.

When is it?

The cruise takes place on Sunday the 26th of July.  We are meeting from 8am at Hopetoun house and we aim to leave by 9.45 am. The cruise is planned to reach the end around 6.30pm where everyone is welcome to stay for food, drinks and entertainment.

Can I join the fun?

The cruise is open to all air-cooled engine powered VWs, as well as kit-cars / buggies/specials.  Last year we had vehicles from as early as 1953 right up to 1998 joining us.  The day is family friendly and we welcome well behaved dogs.  Please share the event amongst your 'aircooled' friends; it's going to be another special day!

When you sign up you will recieve a link to download some 'I've signed up!' social media stickers for you to share online.  You will also be asked to email a photo of your pride and joy which will be shared on our 'Socials'

Join the fun and share the message!

Where will the cruise visit?

The cruise is all about driving your classic VW to stunning locations where you can park up, chat to old friends and make new ones.  The cruise 'halts' are a chance to take a break, enjoy the view and take some photos and videos to share.  Here are main stops along the way.  There are other 'catch up' locations dotted along the route too.

Cruisers will receive full details of the route (including postcodes etc) on the day after they check in.

Hopetoun House

The cruise begins at the stunning Hopetoun House near South Queensferry.  We have exclusive use of the parking in front of the building where we will be assembling the vehicles for some amazing photos!

There will be drinks (and toilets) available.  You are welcome to arrive from 8am onwards and we will to be leaving at 9.45am.

While we certainly hope nobody needs to make an unplanned stop here;  the sight of around 100 air-cooled VWs in convoy crossing this iconic bridge into Fife is sure to be a spectacle to behold!

Queensferry Crossing

Perched in the Fife hills, Knockhill Racing Circuit is Scotland’s home of motorsport. Known for its roller-coaster layout, tight hairpins and fast straights, it has been the proving ground for racing drivers and track cars for decades.

We'll be visiting the legendary circuit to show them what true horsepower looks like!

Balado Airfield is a historic former RAF airfield near Kinross, that later became most famous for hosting the T in the Park music festival for many years.

For the Aircooled Cruise, we have special permission to gather on the runway, giving us a unique opportunity to park together for group photos and capture drone footage in a setting rarely available to the public.

Loch Leven's Larder

Loch Leven’s Larder is a popular destination overlooking the shores of Loch Leven, known for its café, farm shop and welcoming atmosphere. This will be our main lunch stop, where we have a dedicated parking field reserved for cruise participants.

A valued and ongoing supporter of the Aircooled Cruise, they have also supported our Santa Cruise charity event in December where we collected 294 presents for children supported by CHAS.

Craigtoun Country Park

The next stop on the route is Craigtoun Country Park which was the starting venue for last year’s Aircooled Cruise. Set in beautiful surroundings just outside St Andrews, it offers a relaxed and scenic place to gather.

For 2026, we’ll again have our own exclusive parking area, giving cruise vehicles and participants a dedicated space to gather together and enjoy another special stop.

The Rhynd has plenty of indoor and outdoor space to accommodate us.  Everyone is welcome to stay on into the evening.

We are also VERY excited to announce that The Funkwagen will be providing the tunes at the party.  Chill out with old friends and new and reflect on an amazing day!

There will also be an award for the vehicle that has travelled the furthest to take part and also a 'Cruisers-Choice' voted for by everyone attending.

New for 2026 are camping spaces available on the Sunday night should you wish to stay on into Monday.  There are no 'hook-ups'.  This will cost £20 per vehicle / tent.  Please indicate on the registration form if you are hoping to stay.  Money will be payable on the day.

How much does it cost and where does the money go?

CHAS large.png

CHAS are a fantastic charity based in Kinross and we continue to support them throughout the year. The cruise costs just £20 per vehicle and 100% of the profits goes to CHAS.  If you would like to make additional donations (or ask friends and family to help us raise money) then we have a 'JUST GIVING' page too.

To help cover printing costs and raise additional money for CHAS, businesses are invited to purchase advertising space within the programme.

If you (or someone you know) would like to promote your business and reserve a space, please get in touch.

Can I buy merchandise?
